The pandemic as a catalyst for innovation

The covid pandemic that emerged in 2019 has largely disrupted our living and working habits. The virus has taken an important (too important) place in our daily lives. Whether at home, in restaurants or at work, the virus has imposed its conditions and forced us to adapt. Wearing a mask, safety distances, direction of travel, teleworking... Many solutions have made it possible to limit the spread of the virus, but those that allow us to protect ourselves effectively are few in number. Hygitec has developed a new concept to fight against viruses.

Heat to eradicate viruses ?

Faced with viruses, many scientists have been interested in the impact of temperature on their destruction. In 2020, physicist-chemists and biologists Seifer and Elbaum from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, published mathematical models that assess the inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 when exposed to certain temperatures. These models then reveal a 99.99% decrease in virus activity after exposure to a minimum temperature of 56⁰ C for 15 minutes. In the following months, these mathematical models were confirmed by cell culture tests on SARS-Cov-2.
On 12 November 2021, the WHO (World Health Organization) published a report in which the organization confirmed the impact of heat on the virus and validated that exposure of the virus to a minimum temperature of 56 °C for 15 minutes leads to inactivation of the virus.

Hygitec's V.I.S. solution

Based on numerous scientific studies conducted and validated by the WHO, Hygitec is launching in 2021 the first drying and disinfecting cabinets to inactivate viruses (including MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2). The combination of our ozone disinfection technology and an increased drying temperature in our equipment (up to 60 degrees - the temperature chosen to guarantee virus inactivation while preserving the technical properties of your equipment) ensures that your work clothes and equipment are dried and disinfected while offering additional security against viruses.
