01.05.2020 Achievements
The 24 hours of Le Mans, one of the most prestigious races in the world. For the comfort and safety of the drivers, we take care of their equipment.
A little history
The idea of an annual race at Le Mans was first mooted in 1906. This idea was put into practice 16 years later at the Paris Motor Show in 1922.
The idea of an 8-hour race was first proposed in order to prove the quality and solidity of the cars. Eventually a 24-hour endurance Grand Prix was concluded.
The 24 hours of Le Mans were created and organised by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (A.C.O) which saw the automobile as a major invention that would revolutionise the 20th century.
But what do the drivers wear?
Drivers need to have high-tech, durable equipment made of innovative materials; you don't drive the most sophisticated cars in the world in your pyjamas and a bicycle helmet on your head.
The drivers go to every race in cars that are likely to catch fire at the slightest opportunity. The suit manufacturers use highly technical fabrics to protect the drivers' skin from fire. Underneath their suits are flame-retardant underpants and long johns to prevent the heat from ravaging sensitive areas of the body.
Helmets are also essential during a race or training session. Made of multiple layers of carbon, aramid and other materials, they are designed to withstand all kinds of impacts, crushes and heat. Pilot helmets are the safest helmets in the world.
The Hygitec solution
The ACO's priority is to ensure the safety of spectators, teams, drivers, and all organising teams. The drivers' outfits need qualified equipment to disinfect and deodorise them. Our HYGIstore accessory eliminates viruses, bacteria and other germs that cause bad odours. Drivers can drive comfortably and hygienically.
IN SHORT
Hygitec is proud to guarantee the hygiene and safety of the drivers participating in the world-famous car race that has seen the greatest drivers and the most prestigious brands pass through for almost a century.
