01.07.2020 Product focus
For nearly 130 years Weston has shared with us its exceptional craftsmanship. The brand is evolving and is now looking at an innovative concept.
A little history
The famous French brand of shoes for men and women Weston, decides to restore your models to extend their lifespan.
Weston was founded in 1891. In 1946, the house created the famous moccasin which made them successful in the 1980s. After this moment of glory, the brand experienced a darker moment. Thanks to a luxury repositioning and an offer towards more numerous and creative male models, the company is experiencing a new period of growth. Weston then diversified and opened its range of sneakers, which it subcontracted to manufacture. The company is also keen to move towards a more specific feminine offering.
How it works ?
Since 1891, the historical footwear actor, J.M. Weston has offered his customers to extend the life of their shoes by repairing an average of 10,000 pairs of shoes per year in his own workshop in Limoges. But today the brand wants to go even further by launching an eco-responsible "Weston Vintage" project.
The first step in restoration is expertise. An expert in each store makes sure the pair is repairable. If this is the case, the shoe is sent to the Limoges workshop to be repaired and integrated into the "Weston Vintage" collection. When they arrive in the workshop, the shoes are first disinfected in a drying locker room. They are then completely disassembled. Once the sole is removed, the shoes are returned to their original shapes. The shoes are resoled with the same noble materials used for new shoes. Before entering the collection, the shoes are cleaned, brushed, waxed and disinfected using Hygitec devices.
When collecting two possibilities: the expert confirms that your pair of shoes can be repaired, a voucher of at least € 150 is therefore offered to you. On the other hand, if your pair cannot be repaired, a treatment is offered to you in the store.
The Hygitec solution
Weston is a big believer in the functional economy, making a product last as long as possible. To make vintage shoes, they need qualified devices to disinfect and deodorize them. Thanks to our HYGIbox One viruses, bacteria and other germs responsible for bad odors are eliminated. The shoes must be disinfected on arrival so as not to contaminate the tools used for their restorations and before they can be put back on sale in order to respect the hygiene and health of each client.
IN SHORT
Hygitec is participating in an original project, that of recyclable shoes. The second-hand market is attracting more and more customers. Growing consumer concerns about eco-responsibility are driving the growth of this market. Hygitec guarantees health and safety for everyone in this project.
